While choosing a holiday destination is an important decision, when Susan and Ian Gerrard settled on LA for their Silver Wedding Anniversary, they had no idea just how much this trip would change their lives.
For it was during this time, in their hotel spa, that Susan (a qualified manicurist) and Ian (a hairdresser and salon owner) stumbled upon Jessica’s Natural Nail Care System.
Pleasure quickly turned to business as Susan arranged to meet with Jessica in her famed Sunset Boulevard clinic before heading back to the UK, complete with a bag full of Jessica products and a vision for transforming professional natural nail care through education, treatment offerings, technique and, most importantly, amazing results.
Salon by salon (starting with their own), Susan introduced treatment manicures and prescriptive natural nail care to the nation. Beauty professionals and their clients welcomed the treatments with open arms, and demand for Jessica quickly outgrew the Gerrards’ kitchen table (packing bench-come-accounts department-come-customer services centre).
Fast forward twenty years and what started life as ‘The Natural Nail Company’ is now ‘Gerrard International’, an extensive team of dedicated beauty professionals and a leading portfolio of beauty brands. That kitchen table has long since been returned to its rightful role and the Company’s Hertfordshire based headquarters now house Customer Care, Training, Marketing, Accounts, Orders and an extensive onsite warehousing facility.
Susan’s salon visits are continued by her team of Area Managers. They bring Gerrard International’s brands to beauty professionals throughout the UK and work with them to ensure success for our 5000+ spas, salons and mobile therapists.
Susan still heads the Company as Chairman, alongside her long-serving Sales Director Mandy Cook (a member of the family in all but blood) and her children, Lisa Gerrard (Managing Director), Danielle (International Sales Director) and Paul (Director of Marketing and Brand Comms), who, one by one, have brought their own skills and previous experience to the Company.
